Took head off of B after soaking with brake fluid

JD "B" engine became stuck and I soaked it with brake fluid for 3 months. I had removed the rocker arms so the valves would close and poured the brake fluid in through the spark plug holes. Still no movement. I took the head off today and cleaned the gunk out of the cylinders. Has anyone fit a hydraulic jack into the frame and pushed with a block of wood to loosen the pistons? Looks as if both pistons are mid stroke. I will check the pistons and rings, but my plans are to not remove the block if I don't have to. The tractor was outside for awhile and there was no clamp on the vertical rubber hose from the air cleaner to the intake pipe. I found the hose sort of loose when I tore it down so I think that is how the water got in. Any other ideas will be appreciated. Thanks. andy

If it's in mid stroke I'd take BOTH rods loose, but, as was previously stated, even though this might not be what you want to hear, the best way is to just pull the block out so you can get to everything easier-it really isn't that much more of a job since you already have the head off, and it will save yu time and maybe money in the long run.

Maybe you should take the rods loose from the crank shaft before using the jack. At least one of them. My 2 cents...

I know this is not what you want to hear but I always end up taking them all the way down to save them. If they are stuck tight you don't want to put a lot of pressure on the rods or you end up with flat spots and the you still have a mess so why not do it as good as you can to start with. If you take it apart and get the block off then stand it up and soak it or heat it the pistons will move usually. After a good cleanup you may be surprised at the results . Thats the way I do it so good luck and let us hear from you .

Same thing happened to my A, it had water in it over the last 20 years. The cast iron rust just flaked out of the cylinder and had a dark shadow look after boring. Sleeving fixed that right up. I had one intake valve open, which in turn filled the intake and the carb full of water, big mess. Roberts did wonders ( a miracle) for the carb.Hope your's didn't have water in it as long as this A did. good luck
