I have a diesel pump from a JD 5020 that I believe needs rebuilding. Can anyone suggest someone who would be familiar with this 1969 pump. The tractor is very hard to get started the first time, even on a hot day. Starts OK with a squirt of starting fluid in the breather.

Go to Stanadyne's website and click on "Dealer Locator".

You can build that pump they are not hard. Most folk will tell you there are hard to time. take it off and mark the rotor without turning it so you can put it back in same place, it will run, get the repair kit fix your pump. I know some folk going to say he is a nut, been there, done that, would roll FIRE 2' out of pipe.

If the head and rotor are wore out then a "re-seal" kit isn't going to help. Hard start is often head and rotor problems. If the pump has never been rebuilt or replaced it is time for it to give up. Trade it in on a re-built one.

self repair mayby practical for repairing leaks and replacing the plastic coupler (where exists).
since this pump is suspected for starting problems, before repair it needs to be tested on a testbench by a proffesional. so look for a roosa master experienced shop.
