I am in the process of reassembling carb. after cleaning. Bowl gasket will be replaced. Should I use any sealant? Thanks in advance!

JWS

On those MS TSX-245's, just make sure you use a quality gasket...you should not have to use any sealant of any type, unless there are some large pits where the two bodies join..however, make sure you remove all of the old gasket incase somebody else did use an adhesive sealant...you do not want any foreign material falling into the bowl and clogging the small air-passageways and brass jets...lastly, you will proably be tearing back into the carb sometime in the future, and any type of sealant just makes that a lot harder and possibly damage the ga$ket...meaning, more $$$

good luck, tom

jws,
The body-bowl seal is to prevent air leakage and maintain the correct air pressure on the fuel level - the fuel level should be 5/8" below the top of the bowl. I don't use any gasket sealant there - only some LocTite PST sealant with teflon on internal threaded parts.
