live hydraulics on JD A

I bought a live hydraulics/power steering unit for an A. I believe I need to remove one of the original hydraulic pump gears? And run a line to the lower rear hydraulic section of tractor for oil supply. Anyone with some knowledge on this? Help greatly appreciated.

Where could I purchase this live hydraulics kit?? What advantage does it give me?? Clooney I would also like a copy of the instructions. I will email you from home tonight. Thanks

Ken, you didn�t give a year of your �A�? If an early �A� you need to try that pump on the governor.. On some of the early A�s there is an interference of those live pumps to the governor housing..

~Now on mounting the pump & lines.. If you have an early tractor with power-lift you will have to drill the drain hole out & tap to � pipe.. The power-trol or power-lift housing will have to come off & a spacer plate [using two gaskets] added between the P/T valve housing & rear tractor housing.. The original P/T pump will have to come apart & the idler gear removed then the pump halves re-sealed to prevent leaks..

~Your spark plug wires might also be too short & depending on the tractor year the crankcase vent modified..
