I saw a 70 Diesel and it has no power steering. This is the first 70 Diesel I have seen without it. Is this something someone else did or is it something rare from the factory?

My Row crop and standard 70D's have factory P.S. Both are 55's 7028492 and 7022900. I always heard that they were for wimps but man when they are set right they drive like a caddy! Nice out in the fields letting the PS take the beating and saving your arms. My neighbor had a 70G wide front w/o ps. steered fairly easy with a suicide knob on it.

The improved G as the mighty 70 was introduced midway through the 53 model year and built untill 56. PS wasn't even available as an option until serial #7013000 in April 1954. So with production going to serial #7043757 many 70's were built prior to PS. Add to the matter many were shipped as rollo-matic fronts and a few singles fronts which steer easier. The heavier diesel which was introduced at 701750 in Nov 54 may have got a few extra PS orders? Unless equiped with a loader or a wide front, depression raised farmers were not going to spend extra on PS which was for "wimps" anyways.

Anderson....there's quite a few 70D's out there w/o power steering. Especially the early 1955 models. While it may be a little unique, it's usually a big negative when it comes to selling the tractor to someone who intends to actually use it rather than collect/show/store it.

Power steering was an option. There are more than what you would think in the model 50, 60 and 70's tractors without PS. Just about everything but the engine and the frame were optional.

The 70 models had an engine option, gas or diesel
so I guess that leaves only the frame.LOL
