Jim, Im not quite sure what you mean or what happens when you say the spring "seems to pull" Often what happens is the trip dogs are sticky and never come out to engage and wind the spring at all. Therefore, it never winds up tight and then trips to rapidly whirl the rotor past the coil. Thats CCW facign the rear of mag looking at the coupler assembly. It wont work CW facing the coupler. I assume you mean the right direction??? You can easily see them come out and catch to then wind the spring AND ONCE THAT HAPPENS it becomes way way more difficult to turn. If its about the same turning tension all the way around, they are never engaging n winding the spring, therefore, it never trips. Use air and WD 40 etc to clean the trip dogs and physically observe if they ever come outward and engage as you can obviously and noticeably feel plus see, then it should be real hard to turn and you can feel the spring tension IF THE SPRINGS NOT BROKE. If so, it obviously wont develop tension and trip n snap even if the dogs engage. Let us know, Good Luck n God Bless John T
