Does anyone know if my power-trol on my 60 john deereis strong enough to run my loader or do I need to purchase a PTO driven pump. Also is there enough capicity in my hyd sys to run 4 dual actioncylinders on that loader.

Must be as John Deere made a loader to fit them that had the option of a hydraulic bucket. The series 45 and maybe others.

Jody,

Tye is partially correct. The cylinders will not use the same amount of fluid extending and retracting. When extending, the entire volume of the cylinder will need to be filled. However, while you are forcing fluid out of the shaft end at the same time, it is not the same amount since the shaft volume is subtracted from the bore volume. Basically there is less fluid capacity in the rod end than in the open (Bore) end. I am not familiar with the powr-trol capacity. You will need to find out the capacity and compare it to the volume of all of the cylinders at full extention minus the volume of the cylinders at full retraction. When in doubt, err on the side of caution and put a reservoir on.

Good luck,
Dave

Good point. I don't know why I didn't figure that out on my own. Thank you for catching that. Have a great day!

Jody, the power trol is probably strong enough but it will be very slow. I would use a pto pump. If you are using double acting cylinders- for every action, the cylinders will put equal fluid back into the tractor. If you were to use single acting cylinders, then you would have to worry about having enough.
