I'm having some problems with the 51' A. When I engage the PTO, I head grinding coming from what seems to be directly under the the PTO engager rod. The PTO still works fine, but I have no hydraulics. Has anyone ever had this problem before? It sounds really really bad when I engage the PTO.

It dosen't sound like getting to the shaft and counter shaft is that hard according to my manual. Does anyone have any experince with disecting the transmission/pto?

Have you checked the oil in the hyd system, the noise could be a dry pump. if the noise is in the pto bevel gears everthing in the trans case will have to be taken out, including the flywheel, clutch pulley, and first reduction cover.

Yeah, the hydraulic resivour is full, it almost sounds like there is a bearing out. Looking at the manual there is a bearing on the right end of the "counter?" shaft. I dont think it is in the bevel gears of else the pto would not be able to go under load.

The flywheel has to come off? I was just thinking of going in on the right side, taking the belt pulley off, and the cover on the right side off. I also have to replace that gasket and the one on the basic housing.
