Hi guys. A recently widowed friend of mine has her late husband's 2240 with loader to sell. I am trying to help her put a price on it. I have not been up to look it over closely yet. Here is info her son-in-law wrote down: 1982 JD 2240

JD 175 Loader

I believe this is a nice little tractor. I'm not familiar with the "175" loader model number... could they mean a "145"??

Based on what I have found, I'm thinking $10K is a reasonable price. Any of your "more informed" opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

$10000 is about the going price, there a little small for most farmers, and the 175 loader is a light duty loader.

Real reasonable. Especially for the buyer. The tractor alone is worth $10,000. Add a good loader, and that's a $12,000+ tractor around these parts. That's low hours, a popular tractor, and any good tractor with a loader will sell quick. A few more questions. Does the 2240 have Hi-Lo tranny? Live power, or independant PTO? Utility? (w/swept back front axle) Or is it a row crop/utility? What size rear tires? Canopy and ROPS? I buy and sell tractors. I like the 2040/2240/2440/2640 series. They sell good. I have a 2440 of my own. (With 146 loader) If I had your tractor, (from what you've already described) I'd be asking more than $10,000. JMHO John
