We are reassembling a John Deere BNH tractor that was stuck. There was indication that this tractor was dismantled before and we are not sure if the pistons were installed correctly on the con rods,Do the numbers on the rods and the 1/4 inch hole in the piston skirt face up in the cylinders? or do the numbers on the rods face up and the holes in the piston face down? We can not find anything in the shop manual about it.They refer to having the word "TOP" on the pistons but ours do not have any wording stamped on the piston tops. We have the pistons ready to go back in but want to be sure, any help would be appreciated, thanks, John..... ...

John, clean the rear of the piston skirts [the very rear edge]..In a lot of cases the pistons will be marked there with the word TOP.. The numbers on the rods & rod caps goes up.
