I have a 4020 John Deere that leaks in the center of the tractor. My brother who is a diesel mac. split the tractor twice and replaced the seal around the transmission shaft that goes into the center of the clutch. Both times this has stopped the leak for a short while. The tractor starts to leak when the tractor is running. When the tractor is not running the it does not leak. A man told me that the problem is a vent tube for the transmission area. I have searched the tractor and the service manual and can not find a vent tube. If anyone can help me with this problem, please do. I believe my 4020 is a 1969 or 1970, model 822481 AR32564, ser number T213R180109R.

Did you replace the seals on the pto apply pins, they can leak and they are in the same area. If it is the trans. shaft seal again, look at the shaft closely to be sure it's not worn, and check the pilot bearing in the end of the crank. If it's worn,it lets the input shaft wobble enough to leak at the seal.
