I have an early 4020 that uses a cable from the control lever on the dash to the 3 pt. lever. It's almost impossible to move this spring. I've been spraying Blaster so it goes inside but not much improvement. Deere wants $83 for a new one. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

John51- did you get it working? How difficult was it to remove? I am in the same boat works fine when I am in the heated shed but when I get 1 mile away where my hay is it freezes up. I guess I don't have to do anything until next winter.

I had the same problem on a 2010. I took it off, put it in my vise and soaked it with PB blaster until it dripped off the end. Next day went back and did the same thing and then started working the cable up and down. I kept spraying and working the cable until it was no effort to move. Put it back on and 2 years later when I sold the tractor it was still working fine.

take the cable out and soak it in diesel fuel for a day..... .then work it a bit it should free up.
Never could understand y deere never used a rubber or plastic covered cable.

Don't be too quick to give up on the Blaster or WD-40 or Krol. Had the same problem with our 3010 when we first got it used about 14 yrs ago. The old cable works well now(knock on wood). I totally forget how I fixed it!

I took the one off our 4020 and soaked it in my parts washer a day or two then I worked with it and I think I may have even spun it in a drill. It's been a few years can't totally remember but it still works.

Had the same problem with my 3020. Tried everything I could think of, nothing worked. Had to break down and buy a new one. I am sure this is not what you wanted to hear??
