I have a 4320 that is hard to start, also when it gets worked hard and you shut it off it will not start until it cools off for about half hour. I read on the board that a guy named Wess posted the same thing about his 4320, would like to know if Wess ever got his problems worked out on his tractor? Also my tractor smokes a lot when you start it up, white smoke. After you get it started and don't work it hard it starts fine.
Thanks for any answers in advance.

Joseph

THAT PUMP HAS AN ELETRIC SOLENOLID THAT TURNS THE METERING VALVE ON AND OFF. THE SOLENOID NEEDS ADJUSTED SO IT DOESNT OPEN SO FAR. THE ELECTRO MAGNET CANT PULL THE ARM. ROOSA MASTER HAS TOOLS TO DO THIS. I HAD A FRIEND THAT WOULD THROW A BUCKET OF WATER ON HIS PUMP BEFORE HE STARTED IT HOT. THATS PRETTY RISKY AS IT COULD CAUSE THE PUMP TO SEIZE. HOPE THIS HELPS. Sounds like most definetly it is your injection pump and possibly injectors. Get your injectors tested, when everything is new it should start up without any problems. Another thing is possibly your starter, if it cranks slow put a Nippendenso on that is the same as the newer tractors use (8100)

Hard starting, even more so when hot, is a symptom of a worn head and rotor in your Roosa Master DB series injection pump. Unfortunately, this is the most expensive probablem on that pump!

There are a number of diesel shops on the WEB that have exchange pumps available. You might want to do a search for Diesel Injection Equipment and check with some of the outfits for a good price, or do you know of a reasonable local outfit?

One thing to help starting in this situation is to have good batteries and cables with clean connections, so the engine will crank as fast as possible. This will aid starting with a worn pump.

Fuel pump was rebuilt in 1999. I am assumeing that was replaced also, guess I will check with the guy that rebuild the engine in 99. The only thing that was not replaced or rebuilt in 99 was the fuel injectors. To give you a break down of what was replaced, crank shaft, cam shaft, main bearings, new wrist pins, engine was sleved and new rings on piston's, new oil pump, the list goes on. I am thinking that it may be the injectors. But I wanted to run it pasted some of you guys first. Thanks for the reply guy, gives me something to think about any way, and another question to ask the guy that rebuilt it.
