To those who responded to my bearing question, thank you. Now a more basic question. I opened up the rear drive housing to begin to look around. Drained two and half gallons of water out before the two gallons of oil drained. Suprisingly everything looks clean and non rusted. How do I get all of the sludge out of this entire trans, diff etc. Do I get cases of paper towels and just get what I can reach, or is there a sprayer that might be useful? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The manual covers flushing the transmission and crankcase..

Ken,
When we flushed the transmission and final drives of our MT I had the boys use a SS pump type garden sprayer loaded with a Varsol type solvent to wash the inside of the housing. It worked very well. You dont have to use stainless steel, plastic should be fine; we just happened to have one and I felt it would be easier to clean than the plastic.
