I want to change the power steering fluid in my newly acquired JD 70 diesel. The service manual gives the capacity for the power steering but says to "contact the John Deere dealer for the special type of power steering fuid." What type of power steering fluid should I put in the power steering resivoir.

Thanks, KHE 70

KHE 70, just ask your Deere dealer for the 2-cylinder steering oil.. It might say pre 1960 [or something like that] it's designation has been changed a few times.. The 2-cylinder steering oil is different than the later stuff so be sure it is for the older 2-cylinder steering units..

Hopefully someone will post the new part number,, If you don't get a name & number posted tonight I will go out to the shop tomorrow & get the name & number for you..

I have the number as AF2235R, and it's available in quarts, only.
