Hey Johnboy5020, Abilene Machine offers both new and reconditioned crankshafts for quite a bit cheaper than John Deere ,as well as any other parts you may need if you do get that 5020. There real friendly and good people to deal with . Good Luck Derek

A few years ago talking with a JD dealer, I found out that a replacement crank shaft for a 3010 diesel would be 2000USD. I got to believe that the 5020 crank is going to be more, so if that bearing spun a lot....

If the rest of the tractor is straight, all the tin is there, tires are ok,probably $2000-2500.It will cost $2000+ to fix it,time you pull the motor, turn or replace the crank,if its already been turned, replace the rod,buy bearings,a complete gasket set,and seals, rebuild the oil pump, plus whatever else you find worn. They tend to spin #1&2 rod bearing when the oilpump gets weak,or start to lose oil pressure through worn cam bearings. The oil pump housings wear at the top, where they drive against the camshaft, causing the gears to skip,or wear out the oil pump gear and cam gear,or put an excessive end load on the camshaft which wears out the cam thrust plate,or shears the bolts letting the cam move back and forth causing the gears to skip.

The 5020's don't seem to sell for quite as much as the 4020's or 3020's. I have seen reasonably good 5020's where they were asking for $8,000 to $10,500. There was a good one up here that went for $5,000.00. But seeing how yours needs engine work, the prices would be a lot less. The engine overhaul would be maybe 5 to 6 K depending, so that has to be added to whatever the person pays for the tractor the way it is now.
