John Deere has discontinued the 4010 diesel fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump although they still produce the line for the 4020. Can anyone tell me if the 4020 line will fit my 4010 and how much modification it will take. Dealers in this area have taken to replacing the line with a rubber hydraulic hose but since I want to restore the tractor this is unacceptable besides the front end is all apart so installing the line isn't a big deal. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Kenny
I know what your saying about making everything original and all. The ole girls I have had have been workers and not really lookers, not that they looked bad either. I've got a 3020 that has a rubber fuel line running from the short line at the shut off to the fuel lift pump. I kinda like it on a working tractor as I can keep a extra inline fuel filter in there. It looks pretty good too like that, just something to consider. I also like that extra filtering before the fuel pump.
I just wonder if the fuel line is the same for a 3010 or 3020? Have you checked with a salvage yard????? If you could get a fairly good one you could have a new one made?

The line for the 4010, AR26671, and the line for the 4020, AR45529, appear to be shaped the same in the parts book illustrations. The elbow that the line attaches to at the fuel pump, AR26674, and the shut-off valve used at the tank, R34656 are used both on the 4010 and 4020, so the fittings at both ends of the lines will bolt up.

I'll bet the 4020 line MAY be slightly longer, but you may be able to re-shape it a bit, or cut a little off and flare it, if you have the tools for steel line. Worst case would be that the 4020 line would be shorter... you're probably gonna have to spend the $28.25 for a line and check it out!
