Need some help--On my 51 A John Deere the grears all work except I can not get it into 4th or 6th. Even with pressure I can not get the lever over into either one of these. Any ideas??? Thank you.

TAW, it could be a lot of things.. About the only way to find it for sure is to pull the trans top cover & L/H 4/6 gear cover & take a look..

~If the shift lever just won't even move the 4th/6th shift rail at all you might have [a good chance] a rusted up detent plunger pawl on the L/H side of the case.. If that detent won't lift out of the rail notch you just can't shift it..

Clooney, Thanks a lot for the information. I have the trans top cover off now and in the morning I will pull the L/H 4/6 grear cover off and take a look like you said. Again thanks a lot. TAW
