Alex, if I had my "druthers" as they say, Id rather operate in the 180 to 190 range, but put her under a sustained load and see what she does, thats more important. If the shutters work and shes an all fuel (even though not many run that anymore) they were made to use shutters etc and run at 180 and 190 so as to keep the heavier fuels vaporized using a HOT manifold. If she goes up to 170 not loaded thats not bad, so long as she dont then overheat under a load????

Good luck n God Bless

Alex, that depends on if you have working shutters & where they're set.. With the shutters missing or open that sounds about correct..

~Running at 170 won't really hurt it but a little hotter would be a little better. If your B has shutters you might get them operational.. If you don't have radiator shutters you can block the front air flow off a little with a piece of canvass over the nose of the tractor..

~In any case once you start working that B the coolant temperature should go up a little more..
