As some of you may remember, I asked a few 80 questions about three months ago as my brother was looking to purchase one. Well he took the plunge and we brought it home saturday.

1956 80 no p/s, single remote and 18.4-34 tires. This thing steers surprisingly easy without the p/s. Even sitting still it steers well.

Luckily it doesn't seem to need much of anything except maybe some tlc and new decals. We looked at it several times and the pony always seemed to run flawlessly and clean. That was until we got it home.

When I went to start it on the trailer, it acted flooded and when it finally started, it had no power and smoked bad. You better believe my brother had a few select curse words for it! It seems that the guy didn't run it out of gas when he loaded it for us and also neglected to fully shut the gas off.

After it ran for 5 minutes or so, everything returned to normal. The oil was diluted with gas and has been changed now. I hope he doesn't learn how expensive a pony motor can be for a while.

Sorry for rambling, I just wanted to let you know we got it. Now to find a good set of 5-14 plows!!

you are dang lucky that you didnt break anything in pony when you filled it with gas. i didnt get my fuel shut off all the way an fill the pony with gas on my 80 then when i hit the starter i broke a rod an then bent a rod. let me tell you how happy i was. 1000 later it is ready to go back on the tractor. johndeeregene
