would a 1950 crankshaft fit a 1940 model b.I have a model b that needs a new crank Im having trouble finding one but found one on ebay but its a 1950.

keith, I have a NOS (New Old Stock) crank for a 39/40 model "B" marked B130?R in the crate that I would trade for a unstyled NOS crank. Do not want to sell it but would trade it for an NOS older crank. The later crank can be made fit with alteration and machine work but the tractor will not look original. You could use the mid crank, it will fit, work and look original when done. This crank is used in 1941 through 1946 model tractors. It has the same stroke but will require a different set of rods, no machine work required. The connecting rods will have to be changed as the rod crank journal (like the latest crank) are larger in diameter. The only other thing you will have to do is put a thicker wrist pin bushing in the rod to fit the smaller 39/40 piston pin. Call this salvage yard as he had several of these 39/40 "B's" parted out and is a good honest place to do business with. Keith, the parts book shows the 40 & 50 "B" crankshafts are different..
