I got ahold of K&K antique tractors, and they are making me a muffler! THey said that they can shorten one of the mufflers to any length I need. (within reason). I am having mine shortened to 17 inches. Hope this will still work ok. It will allow me to get in and out of the garage door, and still have a rain cap on it. They are charging about $40 plus shipping. Hope this helps others out who are having trouble getting a shorter muffler. Thanks again to everyone for their help in this matter. Thanks also to clooney for suggesting them. Their contact info is: K & K tractor [317-398-9883] or www.kkantiquetractors.com.

Andrew, you're welcome..

~On the short muffler working OK, shouldn't be a problem.. About the biggest problem you will have is exhaust blowing in your face. Some of the very early Deere's like the H had shorter mufflers & they were made taller in the following model years due to complaints of exhaust in the operators face.. Not too bad on the gas tractors but a real pain on the all-fulers & diesels..

~About the only thing you have to watch for is on the oval mufflers that the bottom of the muffler doesn't end up too close to the hood so the paint doesn't get scorched when the tractor is working hard...

Thanks for the information. I also cut down the muffler on my 2510, but if there is any snow buildup in front of the door I scrap the framing. Tired of getting the paint out.
