My 74 830 stearing is sloppy, all new bushings, tie rod ends, and drag link. Power stearing works however when stearing wheel is turned the stearing shaft moves up or down about 1 to 2 inches (about 1 full turn) before the wheeles will turn. When roading the tractor this makes it hard to stay straight.

If this is powersteering then your best bet is to remove the steering column and take it to your dealer to have it rebuilt. There are seal kits for them. First check under the round cover on the clutch housing to make sure the steering arm is tight. Then remove the steering wheel, loosen the locknut and tighten the part that is threaded into the steering column with channel locks or a pipe wrench. Then lock the nut again. It's to difficult to explain the operation of the internal parts of the steering valve operation to tell you what to look for internally. Hope this gives you a little idea what to look for.
