I have a 1967 (serial#050xxx) 2020 gas with power steering. There is about 80 degrees of free play in the steering somewhere in the "column"(between the steering wheel and the beginning of the steering linkage underneath). (If you are turning in one direction you have to turn the steering wheel about 80 to 90 degrees before you (or the front wheels) start to turn in the other direction.) Is it supposed to be this way? Fixable by an amateur? or should I take it to a professional(dealer)? or live with it? Thanks for your time & help.

The book says it is a "Closed Center-Type" Power Steering (serial# 45200 and up}. This "Free Play" exists whether the engine is on or off.
