Do you use a sealant on the head gasket or install it dry?

Thanks,
Jon

My dad was a JD Mechanic for years, working on 2 cylinders. They were told to soak head gasgets on old 2 cylinders in water prior to instellation. Not sure what that did for them, I would agree with the coper sealant, have also used silver spray paint

Thanks for your inputs. I plan to use a good grade of copper sealant. I think the local auto supply has Permatex brand.

I use CopperCoat from Permatex. Never had any problems with it, and I have put on lots of head gaskets dry without problems. I think it's just extra insurance to use the CopperCoat. You can get it at any auto parts store.
