Ok got the fan shaft off of the tractor, got the fan off the one end and the bevel gear off the other end. Now how does this shaft come out of the tube? It is too big for my press and I have tried pipe clamps to try to mimick a press but nothing is giving. So before I mess this thing up is there a secret I am missing here? The IT manual looks like it should be pressed out from the fan side removing the shaft from the govenor side. Am I correct in this? This is one of these things that looks like is should be easy but.....

Thanks for your help guys.

the shaft is in 2 pieces by a splined coupling inside the shaft,it should come apart. Most over the years that gave problems were welded together ,in that case it wont,Steve

Stever:

If KB has a manual steering '60', that shaft is one piece, according to the parts book.

Am I missing something?

Frank

KB, that shaft does come out the rear [governor end] of the tube.
~First try lightly slamming the front of the fan shaft down on a piece of wood [sometimes that is all it takes]..If that doesn't work then try raising your press up on 4X4's or crates [that's what I do].
~If it is stuck in there tight there is a good possibility the front fan bearing has spun on the fan shaft....
