1530 JD shifting problem

I was pulling a box blade full of dirt and due to my lift not working properly I would have to stop when it got full and back up. I stopped backed up, stopped again and put the shifter from R to low, pulled forward, stopped and went to put it back in R and the shifter pulled back to the neutral postion and then locked up. Niether shifter will move. Tried to pull the tractor but the rear end is locked up like it is in gear. I really have no ideal where to go from here. Any ideals that I could research first prior to spending several thousand dollors. Thanks Ken

david, thankyou very much. i was able to just as you said and it worked. i think i will have to go back into it though, one of the linkage is loose. again thanks

you have to loosen the shift cover sheet metal cover, raise the rubber boot, remove the snap ring that holds the shift lever and remove the shift lever. use a screwdriver to move the shifter to neutral. (openings in both shifters align together). insert the lever back into its place.
there are probably loose rivets on the shifters.
