1966 4020. Has the Small Round Roosa-Master pump. Fuel return line and elbow removed. pressurized fuel at injection pump, cracked line comming from filters to check. Cracked 3 injection lines at unions. Throttle wide open, cranked and cranked. No fuel comming in injection lines. Cracked the 4 screws on the very top of the Pump, slightly pressurized fuel and some air came out. Removed injection line from pump, cranked, no fuel comes out.

Any hints?

1.) You may not have cranked the engine over enough to get fuel flow through the injection pump, if it had gotten air in it. It takes more cranking than you'd like to think.

2.) Providing you have a good flow of fuel TO the pump, the transfer pump in the injection pump may have failed.

3.) The metering valve under the top cover of the pump may be stuck in the "off" position.

4.) If the pump has sat unused for a couple of years, the plungers in the hydraulic head may be stuck in the retracted position with varnish from old fuel.

If there is black debris in the pump, that indicated the governor torsional damper ring has failed and a pump overhaul is necessary, anyway. The replacemant governor hub is redesigned to prevent this in the future.

Sounds like you need to have it rebuilt cost about $500-800 to have it done, the black specks you see are seals from the pump. The lines you are speacking of are timing marks if its like the one I had

Took injection inspection cover off. Saw vertical mark on upper portion. Cranked engine, saw lower portion rotate, amd other mark go by. Upper mark does not move. Much fuel and some black material came out when cover removed. Still no fuel at injectors. I guess my next step is to remove all lines and removed top cover under the 4 bolts.
