In a previous posts there has been mention of 720/730 diesels "slobbering out the stack". Clooney and others indicate that this could be caused by clogged injector tips or low operating temperature. My 720 also does this and by the pulse of the smoke, my belief is that it is mainly caused by one cylinder.
My question is, how difficult is it to remove the injectors and would removal and cleaning of the tips in any way alter the calibration of the injectors?

720Deere, those injectors will come out pretty easily. The tips are not that easy to clean & are real easy to mess up if the correct sized broach isn't used.
~My suggestion would be to pull the injectors out, then turn them around so they face forward [don't worry about the bleed-off lines] then crank engine & watch the spray pattern [that can tell you a lot]. CAUTION: don't EVER place your hand in front of an injector while it's spraying as those high pressure injectors can inject that diesel oil right through your shin..
~If the tips are plugged & you get an uneven spray pattern you can try to remove them & soak them in lacquer thinner SOMETIMES that will clean them up.
~I would strongly suggest you get a service manual before working on that injection system as it is easy to do expensive damage to those injectors if you don't fully understand that injection system..
