B power lift???

I checked out the power lift on our B. It was modified to operate a loader. It has a handle where the left pedal would be. The handle feels like it has 3 positions, I am assuming up, down and hold. The filler plug has an elbow where returning oil went(I am assuming, don't have the loader. I am also assuming that even though the loader was only power up, oil was in the other part of the cylinder to act as a resivour similar to a Farmall #31 loader). My question, where is the pressure port on the power lift? Is it on the bottom opposite the filler plug or is it on the right side? I want to someday operate a one way cylinder and don't really want to change to power-trol because I want to keep it origional the way that we got it brand new. Thanks!!

John,

You might do a search for Baker Multi Valve. There are a half-dozen posts on the JD board, going back to 1999. One of them might describe your hydraulic system.

Good luck,

Stan

John,

Based on the comments between you and Sam, I wonder if you could have either a "Baker Multi-Valve" or a "Baker Control"? These were aftermarket hydraulic setups to make a John Deere with Power Lift much more useful. I never saw one, but I remember seeing the ads for them back in the late '40s or early '50s and thought that one or the other would be a really great modification for our '41 'B'.

John,

Seems to me you have the power-trol already With the lever on the side that has 3 positions I don't think it is the power lift I couldn't think it would work well with a loader. Does it have dummy plugs comming out of the back? If so then for sure it is the power-trol. Let us know

Thanks for replying!!!! It is definatly the power lift. My father said that something was done to it so it could run a horn-draulic loader. It has a lever on the left side and the foot pedal on the right. I only want to run a one-way cylinder. The tractor has been in a good shed for the last 10 years and we are thinking of using it again, my grandfather bought it new in 1944.

Thanks guys!!! Unfortionally I don't have a digital camera or a way to post a picture on line. I did a search this past week on the "Baker Valve" and power lift. From what I read , the baker valve would fit between the power lift and back of the tractor. Mine doesn't have anything between. In reading the archives and some of my previous question posts, people on this site said that there was a modification to the power lift itself but no specifics were given. Again thanks for all of the replies.
