5020 tired engine, do you rebuild the engine or swap in a later 619 motor for a bit more hp ? Can anyone out there give me a definative guide as to fitting the 619 engine ? Just want to know whether or not it is worth doing. More hp equalls bigger smile ! Thanks to all.
Chris.

Just A little more information so you realize what is being said here. True a 531 (A) engine from a 6030 / 7520 will do every thing that you want. Fact a 531 (A) engine is not the same engine that the 531 (D) engine your 5020 came with. Fact a 619 engine will not require any more alteration to make it fit your 5020 than a 531 (A) engine will. Fact a 619 will be allot easier and probably cheaper to find. To make one of these fit in your 5020 the radiator will have to be moved forward and air cleaner will have to be relocated to make room for the radiator to come forward. The reason for this interference is the 531 (A) and the 619 engine has the water pump located forward of the engine where your original 531 (D) engine the water pump was back tight against the head. No you can not swap the water pumps from one to the other as design changes will not allow. The other mod that will have to be done is pulley clearance for the front harmonic balancer. Front steering casting will have to be ground out to make room for it. You may want to give this some serious thought of what the tractor is worth to you before you make this decision. Good Luck, Dave W.

Personally, Id rebuild the 531. You can get enough power out of that engine to do anything you want. The 531s in our 6030s both put down about 230-240hp. Thats already 100 more than a stock 5020.
