JD 1520 is like a?

I have been looking for a 1010 or 1020.
They seem to be highly desired as I have not found many to choose from so far.
I did locate a 1520 w/ JD loader near here.
I have not seen it yet but owner says it's real nice. 4200 hrs. That seems like a lot (hours)to me for original engine etc. Asking price is $6900.
Can anyone tell me what size a 1520 is? Like a 10 series or like a 20? KB

1520s are a little bigger than 1020s and smaller than 2020s. They were manufactured in Germany and imported to the States, thus not as many salvage parts are available. Still a good tractor... There's a couple 2020s listed in the photo ads right now on YT.

I believe that it was the later generation of the 1520, the 1530 that was manufactured in Germany.

Hold on here!! The 1520 was NOT made in germany! They were made at Dubuque Iowa.

Mr. Green, I rechecked my JD field guide by Macmillan. It says Mannheim introduced the 820, 920 and 1120 in '67. The 1120 model was later added to the US 20 series and called a 1520. You're right, I'm wrong. Thanks for the correction. Sorry...

I have a 1520 and i can tell you it's a good tractor. The 1520 diesel has 46.52 PTO hp. The 1520 Gas has 47.86 PTO hp. Stay away from a 1010 or 2010. The 1020, 1520 and 2020 are much better. 4200 hrs is not allot, and his price is in the ball park.

Sure thing, a 1520 is a BIG 1020! It has about 30 cid more than the 1020, and about 46.5 hp. Both the 1020 and the 1520 have a 3 cyl engine. The price you quoted sounds "typical".
