Any one know what years JD made the 45 loader and how many were 45w's, Or do you know where I could reserch to find out? Thanks

If the decals (lettering) is still visable, the late models had the square lettering, like the late model numbered series tractors. The older ones had the lettering like the late model lettered series tractors. Again, no idea how many were made. I've got one on a 56 "60" now and it works great. As far as Mike's mention of retrofit to the lettered series, mine was on my dad's 50 model A. I can put the loader on either tractor without even adjusting the support arms. If you grew up with them like I did, and learned how to work them, you could dig dirt(with the dirt plate) and move snow (with the snow bucket) just as good as with a hydralic bucket. However, I would like to find a "45W" frame, as I a planning on putting a wide front on the "60".

I know what you mean about lovin'-the-loader Kieth; we just got our 45 loader mounted on the "A" and we love it. We had an "Alley OOP" brand before and was it ever a pleasure to drop that oil-leaking conglomeration off of our fine classic JD and see the tractor for the first time.
I'm kind of surprised at how much the 45 will actually pick up, and how well it will dig, even without a hydraulic bucket.

Glad to hear it will dig. I plan to use it that way next summer. Only need to go down a foot or so. Then will dig a pile that came from puting in the wifes pool and spred it out as fill in my barn. Never wanted the pool but the new old 620 and loader came from that pool of water, if you know what I mean. thanks for the great info

You'll find that if you are in 1st gear at moderate-to-low throttle, that "A" will still have enough power to push that bucket and it will be very controllable at that slow speed. We made a new trip linkage for ours; since it seemed to be jury-rigged; and while I was at it I made more adjustment holes where the trip rod hooks to the lever so when we adjust the bucket for less bite we won't have the lever laying backward quite so much.

As to how many were made,,,Don't know how you would find that out unless someone has actcess to factory records. The 45, 45W did not have seriel numbers. Info I have is the 25 loader was for the "A" and "B" tractors and the 50 loader was the heavey duty one for the "A" "B" AND "G" tractors. The 30 loader was for the "M" while the 40 loader was for the "MT" The 45 45W was designed for the 50 60 and 70 tractors and would reto to the "A" "B" "G". Also special frame straps and mountings were availible to put a 45 45W on the 40 420 and 430 tractors. The 45 45W stayed in the line through the 3010's and would mount on a 3010, but had high pressure cylinders when on a 3010. Interesting was that when JD came out with the 35 loader for the 330 430 435, It also stayed in the line and there were brackets to mount a 35 loader on a 1010 2010 and the 3010. (talk about too much tractor for the loader it was the 35 on a 3010) Without acutal factory records, there really isn't much more info to be had on the old small equipment such as loaders, plows disks, drags, Post hole diggers and ETC, because that kind of stuff didn't have serial numbers.

I have a 45W loader with hyd bucket and have the brackets to mount it on both sizes of tractors from the M to 430 and also the B to 730. So the 45 was made to fit quite a range of tractors. When it comes to Deere never say never.

Just wandering how you hooked up the hydrolics for the bucket. Would I be able to this on mine with a 620. I did learn from other post that I have the larger cylinders with the three rods on the sides.

We hav a 35 loader on 630 as our chore tractor. And I sheep from first hand when I say the 3010 was two much tractor for te 35 loader. Our 35 loader is "HIGHLY MODIFIED" We had to redo all the mountings as they were not made for the 630. We have welded in plate gussesets. We replaced the lift cylinders to 4" and the tilt cylinders to 3". Put on a 7 way hyd valve and add a grapple fork. We got the loader for next to nothing as the boom was cracked in two places. We put the loader on the 630 in 1976 and have had it off maybe only 6 times since. A loader on a tractor is about the handyest thing on the farm. Don't know how guys get along without a loader tractor. A 45 loader on a 620 is a good match.

Just plan to use it around the house. Not a farmer have 9 acres. Figure to use it to haul tree branches chunk wood dirt mulch push snow ect. Nothing to hard for it. Dont know any thing much about tractors I just love the sound of a two cylinder! Have a 38 B I take in the local parade. Just brought the 620 home from the local show today. The loader was a hit. It got alot of attention.
