Recently aquired a 1948 "G" in need of TLC. I'd like to learn a little more about this model and am wondering if "Green Magazine" or "Two-Cylinder" have every run a historical feature on the styled "G"?? Anyone know the issue year or Vol. number?? Do you know if I can order a reprint of a single selected article from back issues from the publishers?? Thanks, John in OH

Since you have a styled "G", the best book you can get a hold of is J.R. Hobbs' "Styled Letter Series" book. It has all of the relevant articles on the styled "A", "B", "D", "G", "H", "L", "M" and "R", along with some specs, production numbers, serial number breaks and so forth. By the way, what serial number is your "G"? I also own a '48 "G", serial number 30722.

G-Man, The s/n of my '48 G is 32271. Probably only a few months newer than yours! Actually, I bought it last fall, but there is never enough time to work on everything so it has been sitting since I got it. Had to rebuild the carburator, have the generator/voltage regulator overhauled and have the magneto entirely rebuilt. NOW maybe I can get it to run!! If the magneto comes back from the shop and if I can find the time, I hope to spend some more time on it this coming weekend. It's gonna take a lot of time and $$ to get this old girl back in shape again!! John in OH

John,
Back issues of Green Magazine and Two Cylinder are available from John Ogg at very reasonable prices. His email address is [email protected]. And he probably knows what issues contain G info, if there are any additional ones to those in previous responses.

John,

If you can find a September 1996 issue of Green Magazine, go for it. If not, please contact me by e-mail
