I used to subscribe to both Green Mag and Two Cylinder but dropped both for one reason or another. I see they're now over $30 a year. What do you guys think? Are they worth it? To tell you the truth, the most useful information I get is right here from the folks who have the direct experience to answer my questions.

I get both. If I had to pick one, it would be TC. More so, since they got away from the wierd lengthwise format. Having said that, we should ALL support this site to the best of our ability. This is 24-7 I can digest the Mags in less than one evening.

There has been some discussion of this subject on Rummy's board lately. I still believe that both magazines are worthwhile. I have subscriptions to other non-tractor related magazines that cost only $14 for 12 issues. These other mags contain more articles and techincal information than either GM or 2-cyl, but they have been around for decades and have circulation numbers that probably are 1,000 times higher than either JD magazine. The higher the circulation numbers the higher the cost of advertisements which equals cheaper subsription rates!

If either magazine contained nothing else but the ads and the classifieds, I would still pony up the dough. If you find one rare piece for your restoration out of the classifieds, you have more than paid for your subscription. If you don't feel that you are getting your moneys worth than don't subscribe, but don't whine about it and try to convince those of us who do that we are getting ripped off!

John51, I guess it depends on your financial situation and degree of intrest. I think both magazines are worth the cost. As mentioned below, I like the photos and ads. I would think $30 on any decent magazine on any subject is not a bad price. But I think I would balk if they went up to the $50 range.

John51, I take both and don't think I could get along without either one. If you only want to know how something works or have a repair question this is the place. What I like about the magazines is stories and pictures plus for sell items. Many vinders to chose from. I have both back to 1996 and I can look up most any thing I need in them. 2-Cylinder Mag. was 112 pages this month. Lots of good information. CLW

If you stop to consider how much $$ you're spending in this hobby I think that a magazine subscription pales in comparison. I think that the subscription price can easily be saved in comparison shopping for parts or tractors. Its true that a lot of the articles are about the same models but then ther are only so many models to talk about. The latest issue of Two Cylinder for example was nice and thick but honestly it was mostly all just reviews of stuff that most advanced collectors already know about.

I subscribe to both magazines and enjoy them both. With the indexes now available I find them helpful to research diferent projects. The new format for the Two Cylinder mag looks promising to improve the content and give more than just a pictoral overview of the various topics. The part I enjoy the most is reading about the other collectors and their projects.
