I have a 1951 JD A. It has been setting outside for 13 to 14 years. Started working on the tractor to get it in shape again. The engine turns over and the brakes look like they are not engaged but I can't move the rear wheels. Tried to pull with another tractor and tires just slid across ground. Verified tractor not in gear. Any suggestions to loosen the rear end

Kelly, I'd be willing to bet the brakes are stuck from rust or whatever, even though the pedals are back they can still be holding the bull gears and axles/wheels. Try unbolting the brake units from the rear end and sliding them out about 4 inches, likely the tractor will roll free then. This is pretty common for tractors that have been sitting for several years.
