The drive belt on my LT155 got shredded by a loose spring. I have the new belt in place, but it's too long so there's obviously something wrong with the routing. I didn't get to see the original belt's routing, so I'm not sure where it goes. Does anyone have a diagram? Thanks.

Brian, I looked in my Manual, no diagram. So I'll try to describe it. Starting at the rear, the left side of the belt goes from the left side of the transaxle pulley to a V-pulley near the front of the tractor, then to the engine crankshaft. The right side of the belt goes from the right side of the transaxle pulley toward the LEFT, makes a reverse bend around a flat pulley, goes across the tractor toward the right side, goes around a V-pulley, then to the engine crankshaft. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, Phil. I pretty much had the belt routed as you described, but could use some confirmation on specifics. From the left side of the crank pulley, it goes to the inside of the looped brass rod guide, then to the V pulley. From there, it goes outside the flat bar which comes up off the mower deck lift/lower bar, then back to the transaxle. From the right side of the crank pulley, it S-curves through the flat/V pulley assembly, then on to the transaxle.

The flat/V pulley assembly has two springs on it. There is a two-piece compression spring on the right side which attaches to the brake bar. There is a black tension spring on the left side. This is the spring that came off and shredded my belt, so I don't know where the other end attaches. Does this go the the V pulley near the front?

If I get this working again, I'll try to get some pictures for my (and others) future reference. Thanks again.

Could someone email the photos to us? My husband is out right now trying to replace this belt, and is clueless because of the lack of diagrams/photos in the instruction booklet....

The black spring hooks into a notch on a lever on the left side of the flat/V pulley assembly. From there it goes forward & hooks onto the V-pulley shaft. Must be a groove or something in the shaft to retain the hook, tough to see with a mirror & a flashlight. The installed spring runs approx parallel to the tractor frame.

After replacing my drive belt from a diagram that I had,I started it up and immediately lost 3 fanblades on the fan, plus, my drive belt slipped off. This has happened to me twice. What gives?

Phil, thanks a lot. What I thought combined with what you knew got me up and running again. And just in time - my neighbors were ready to lynch me if the grass got any higher.

I have some pictures I took of the underside after I got everything working. They're not great, but I do have them labeled and, taken as a group, they provide a reasonable description of what's routed where. I also drew up a simple diagram of the belt routing. If you're interested, let me know and I'll email them.

Thanks again, Brian

Brian, Looking for some assist in replacing drive belt for a John Deere LT155 drive belt. Ref your email way back in 2003 where you stated you had pictures plus you drew up a diagram of the belt routing. Should you still have this information I would really appreciate if you would email info to me. With your assist along with my efforts in helping out my neighbor - I just might earn a cold beer from him. God Bless.
Carlos
