70 hydraulics question

Hi all, my 70 hydraulics work fine with a remote cylinder such as my loader, it will not go down for weeks. But, when I use the 3 pt, it will drop at a rate that increases as the tractor gets warm. when the tractor is very warm it will drop completely in less than a minute. What could cause this and how do I fix it? Thanks, Ken in MN

Ken, if the Power-Tol fluid is staying up & not running into the trans, you more than likely have a leaking rockshaft piston seal [a very common problem when the rockshaft won't stay up but the remotes will].
~That job isn't too bad & replacing that rockshaft piston seal is a good place to start.
~Now if you are also losing P/T fluid into the trans you might have a blown rockshaft cylinder to housing gasket & that is a big job to replace]

ken, first thing i would think would be seal related, something that the oil leaked by when cold, but much faster when the oil is warm and viscosity is lowered. you can go to www.jdparts.deere.com and find your tractor in the online parts catalog, then look up your hydraulics and find anything that says o-ring or seal with regard to the rear lift, that would be the best guess -- assuming your sure your lift valve is not at fault? i believe the draft control and all other items would not be as temperature sensitive, therefore indicating seals...
