I was watching "Classic tractor Fever" on rfdtv the other day and the episode was about a JD show somewhere. They had a Model P on there that was very interesting. It looked like a Farmall F-20 painted green and yellow. Same rowcrop design with drop housings in the rear and the drawbar nearly the same. Anybody have one or seen many?

A friend here in Southern Iowa has two "P" tractors sequentially serial numbered. Both came out of the Northeast.

The model "P" was a special type of "GP"tricycle, built in 1930 with narrower, (68"), than standard axle quills to fit the row width used in the Maine potato fields, where they were all shipped. There were only 203 of these built. Later JD made a special offset wheel for the "GPWT" to fill this small market. I think they had their own serial# group with a "P" prefix. THE MODEL P AND THE MODEL C WERE BOTH BUILT BEFORE THE GP AFTER THE BUGS WERE WORKED OUT THE NAME WAS CHANGED TO GP BECAUSE DUE TO POOR PHONE QUALITY IN THE 20'S PEOPLE WOULD CALL THIER DEALER AND WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO TELL THE DIFFRENCE BETWEEN MODEL D,C,P.
THE MODEL P& MODEL C ARE VERY LOW PRODUCTION

I think that was probably a GP.
