I bought a USED tractor and have trouble with it lately.Cant get to start, got a new starter and batteries are good.Took off some of the covers and found were the plastic covering on the wires are so brittle that the wires are bare in spots(a lot of spots). The person I bought it from had changed it from a 24v to a 12v and I have several wires that have been cut and just hanging there. If anyone has any information are sugestions PLEASE send them to me. I would like to replace the wires but in need of the wiring diagram. So if someone has one Please help me out. Thanks in advance to all help.John

I made a mistake ,it is a 1964 4020.I did go too the dealer and the young men were NO help. They were more interested in what they had done the night before and what they were doing for the weekend. So that left me out.So if anyone out there has a wiring daigram, please send it my way.I dont know when I will be going to the next town to see another dealer.

I was wrong, it is a 1964 ,4020.I have taken the outer covers off and have found wires that were cut and I have NO clue were they went.To my suprise one of them is HOT. I just hope I can figure this out before I lose my patience.I did go the the town closest that is a Deere Dealer and they were NO help at all.I will stop back in to see if the owner is in and maybe that will get some help. But in the mean time anyone with a wiring diagram could please email it to me I would really appreciate it.Thanks again ,John

John,I can't help you on 24v to 12v wiring conversion but if it's a '62 it must be a 4010 as production on 4020's didn't start till '64.You might have a neutral start switch not working properly. On 4010 it is on right side of dash under shifter,on 4020 it's on RH side of trans behind RH battery,if powershift it has another one on clutch pedal valve.Jim B

I have to say once again, "see your dealer."

They will usually let you use a manual because you have to buy parts there.
Deere had several versions of wiring those tractors and it takes some searching to find the proper diagram. Good luck.
