jd 530 and hot gas

I have always used my 530 with a Kosch double 7' mounted sickle mower. Last year my temperature gauge quit, so I put on a new one. On the hottest of days it runs about 190 while working, seems to run and start perfectly. Anyway when I get off, there are bubbles in the glass bowl coming from the bottom, like it's boiling. I'd also swear I hear it's boiling in the gas tank a little bit (yikes?). Anyway with the exhaust so close to everything, does this happen once in a while, even if I've never noticed it before? The temp says 190, sometimes barely above that, I've checked the temp in the radiator, and tried yet another gauge and it all checks out. Any suggestions? Doesn't really have that many hours on a "pro" overhaul. Thanks.

Alan, as CLW said, check to see if the fuel tank lower heat shield is there. If you have an all-fuel tractor I don't believe they get one though.
~Gasoline can & will boil.. If you have winter gasoline in there the vapor pressure is different & it will boil easier [at a lower temperature] than summer gasoline.
~You might want to look to see if your fuel line is clear of the hot exhaust & see that your manifold heat valve is set to COLD..
~I have seen them boil gasoline with a mounted corn picker installed & working in hot weather but it shouldnt when using a sickle mower.. A few bubbles in the strainer after working would probably be normal though.

Yes, the heat shield is there. I baled today so I didn't see if it did it again. I only use it in the summer, the manifold is always on cold. I'm sure the fuel line is exactly as it came from the factory.... Couple things though when I get thinking about it. The gas tank was less than half full (more gas to absorb and dissipate more heat??, might be less than 1/4), it was 90+, there wasn't much wind, and it probably is working a little as the grass is fairly thick since it's actually sort of been raining this year unlike the last four. Possibly some of these factors? I just never noticed it doing it before, and I've got and use hard a 520 and 630- (use with loader, dirt, manure, bales, etc.) besides this (they're my "good" tractors next to my 660 & 1855 Olivers). Anyway, nothing like a little boiling gas to make you think. Thanks for info.

alan, do you have a heat shield under the fuel tank?
