Hard to say. we have a direction rev on our 430 crawler. I think the 420,430 had three differant revs, with the last one just on the late model 430,440. Don't know if that late one was carried over to the 1010 or not. When we got our 430 crawler, it didn't work rigth when putting the rev lever in rev. We used it in direct drive for a long time and when we finally got into it all that was needed was a fluid flush and ajustment. Lucked out there! (A bear to ajust with the 90 loader on. You can't see what you are doing.) Now that it's working I have never used it. When digging into a bank we use 1st and rev in the trannie is faster then 1st with the rev ingaged. And if useing 2nd, it's just as easy to pull the trannie lever from 2nd to rev as it is to pull the rev lever as that is a direct back and forth pull. I'm still wondering why the 430 crawler had more then 3 speeds. When going up the dugway road and across the ridge to the back pasture, I have all I can do all to stay in the seat and keep my teeth in my mouth in 3th gear. If you have gear noise it's maybe more then an ajustment. But if it's working OK in direct drive, it becomes one of those management calls weather to tear it down or to use it as is.
