My 730d smokes excessively and is short on power. Airways are clear, new rings, valve job. I did not get a text with the e-mail you sent me Clooney. My server is a problem.

Elton,

As clooney said regarding the upper filter housing, I had mine almost plugged up completely. I removed the lower mesh filter housing and the snorkel and cleaned a whole pile of grease, dirt and crude out of mine. It is a wonder my 620 gas even ran.

Have you checked yours for stoppage?

Good Luck

Dick

Elton, it still sounds like a possible intake restriction.
~Have you removed & boiled out the inner air cleaner wire mesh element? Have you pulled the intake snorkel that runs out the front of the tractor & looked for old dirt & oil in the top of the main filter housing?
~If you are certain there isn't a restriction in any part of the intake system you should probably have the injection system checked out & calibrated. ~You can pull the injectors out & turn them around so they are pointing out then crank the engine to see if you are getting a fine even pattern spray mist & not big drops & leakage.
~As Frank said the injection timing should also be looked at.
~For a diesel to smoke like yours it either isn't getting enough air to go with the fuel, is getting too much fuel in big drops, is getting the fuel at the wrong time, or has a camshaft problem.

Elton:

Are certain you have the injector/pump timing correct ? That can contribute to smoking and lack of power.
