I have a 1957 720d that I use brushhogging pasture and other idle ground. I don't seem to be getting the rpm's out of it that i do with my other ones. It tops out at about 1000 rpm according to the tach. How do I get it up where it should be?

Thanks

Arnie, there is a [high RPM] speed adjusting bolt just inside the pony motor door about at the bottom of the 2 levers for pony choke & speed control. Just loosen the nut & turn the bolt out until you have a fast idle speed of 1250 RPM HOT. ~You really should use a hand held shaft speed counter type tac on the clutch pulley as the factory tac might not be very accurate [especially if it's old & worn]..
~If you cant get the RPM you need with that bolt you will need to get a manual & set the governor linkage & rack to allow the injection system to go to full power.
~If the RPMs are just low while working or under a load you might also be getting some injector tip plugging or pump wear if the RPMs have dropped by themselves over time.
~You might also want to change the primary fuel filter as that could be starting to plug
