I haven't gotten into my '51 B yet, but I can hear that it will need some bearings in the governor and fan shaft. I got to looking for sub. numbers and come to find out that the bearings are obsolete. The thrust washer is still available for $17 but the ball?? or other bearings which call for 2 of each aren't available. Where can I obtain these or are they made of unobtainium??? It appears that the bearing at the end of the fan shaft is also the same part number JD7654R. I would like four of these if they exist or I can use a substitute. Please let me know what you can. Thanks

Well, Nothing better than a Monday blooper!! If you take the R off of the part number you find a good part number that even the my dealer stocks. Sorry for the dumb mistake. I kept thinking that as common as this bearing is surely Deere is making it available.

Have a 41A that I think has the same problems as your B? The new rotor I installed in the WicoC mag is already wearing down at the contact tip and the tractor hasn't even run yet? Damage to rotor is from cranking motor by hand only and I believe the bushing's/bearing's that the shaft that you put the rotor on is/are worn? Anybody be able to tell me just what to expect if I go in any further, past the mag?

Last summer when I was inside my 43 "A", I got the same story and assumed the same thing until this very moment - Thanks. Other oddities at my dealer were $130 for fan pulley, gasket set #1 had all correct gaskets except for head and gasket set #2 had correct head gasket but all others except cover were wrong. Appears a JD counter man who knows what he is doing is a rare thing indeed.
