I have a 1950 G and want to convert the oil bath air cleaner to a dry insert. Who does this and will it help to increase the intake of air?
Jon

A good oil bath is all you need on a G. I spent a bunch on my R and dino'd and guess what. not a speck of difference. Just costs more to maintain so I can brag on that!

The extra airflow only makes more power if fuel delievery is increased to match the extra available oygen.

Actually, if you have a true oil bath air cleaner they work real well at filtering the air and removing contaminents that you don't want in the engine. There is no real expense involved in cleaning them out and you don't need to keep a spare. If it was me I'd keep the oil bath but that's just my 2 cents.

Yes indeed, they do such a good filtering job that it is like sucking a milkshake through a coffee stir!
