Have a john deere 60 and the gas lever will not stay where it is put. What kind of material goes under the gas lever to keep it from slipping?

I had this problem with my 1953 model 50. I used two metal cutting disks designed to be used with my air-powered rotory cutting tool. I used a punch to cut out the circular slots. Seems to be working fine.

My local dealer told me that mother deere no longer sells just the disks but will sell the whole throttle assembly for probably twenty times the cost of just the disks. I needed them for a 50.

Dipstick Dave, those are called friction discs and are available from your Deere dealer. They can be made from a piece of leather from an old glove, belt, ect. But they are not very expensive to buy the correct ones. Wayne.
