Axle housing on A

I'm restoring a 34 A but the axle housing is broken where the drawbar bolts under it. I know where I can get a good axle housing off of a 46 A but didn't know if these 2 would interchange and still look correct. Also, I still want to use the axles that came off the 34 since they are splined for the round spokes I have on them now. I know both housings have the raised letters across the axle but wasn't sure about the dimensions for the axle, bolts, etc. Can anyone tell me if this would work and still make the tractor look original?

your 46 housing would not work and would not be correct looking. the 34-37 a's have a flat style of script on the axle. the 38 to 47 housings have a more stylized script for the lettering. i am not 100% sure but the axels were a different diameter than the 34....you can get a 35-37 style axle housing and use it. it will be the right size and the lettering will be the same.

Randy, You will want to use a axle housing from 1935-1936 aslate'37&'38 used a simmilar one to the styled axle with 12 splines and script lettering. I'd be interested in buying your '34 axle. or maybe trading a ,'36 axle for it. Good luck, Mike3
