My dad alraeady had the clutch apart by the time Igot te tactor and I am comfused. I have a explode view of the clutch in my manual that appears to show clutch disks attached to either side of the facing disk. The facing disk I have has no disks attached and doesnt showsign that their ever was any (ie no rivet etc...). So, do the disks on either side of the facing disk free float or are they somehow attached?

Thanks!!

The ones with the 2 friction disks were sometimes bonded (glued) to the thin steel disk.

Ron,

I have a 620 which one day when I was brush hogging one of the inside disk broke into. One half of the disk climbed up on top of the other half and when disengaged the clutch nothing happened she just kept right on going. I had to quickly throtle down and turn the key off to stop her.

When I pulled the clutch apart I found mine to be free floating and I replaced them the same way. I have no problems with my clutch. Tractor runs great.

There are others out here who are experts on these subjects. Great forum board

Good luck

Dick

Ron, not all 2-cylinder Deere clutches are the same. What are you working on?

They do indeed free float---there is a very small lip. Good luck Dave NE Iowa
