Well most of you that have been on here for some time, YEARS, know the trouble I have had with my 1020 and the hydraulic problems I have had after changing a bad line to the 143 loader cylinder.
The roblems started with replaceing the bad line and then adding some hydraulic oil. What type of fluid did I add you say, well it wasn't JD HYGARD and I spent numerous hours reading and bugging you guys about my problems with the really slow hydraulics after running for about 5 minutes and using the loader. Well after draining the system and refilling with JD HYGARD and cycling the steering and the loader through full movements this thing works like new again and not a single problem. For all of you that have put up with my questions, Thank you, I've learned a lesson about mixing hydraulic oils, even in a pinch. The trouble you will have is not worth the headache. I want to sincerely apologise for my stupidity. The oil was foaming badly and looked like milk after about 5 minutes of loader use causing poor operation. Who would have guessed????? ?????

Thanks
Mark in Mo.

Mark: Your advice regarding the use of good quality hydraulic fluid, i.e. JD HyGard, is well taken. But, I suggest you be on guard for a water leak into your transmission. Your description of the "foamy and mikly" condition of the old fluid leads me be to be suspicious of the shift-lever boots (and other points) where water could enter the transmission.

I don't mean to "rain on your parade" but after you've flushed and replaced the ten gallons of hydraulic fluid, and had that elated feeling of fixing a nagging problem!!!, it may turn out that rain on your tractor may still cause problems.

Thanks for the advice, I'll check the old fluid for water after it sits a while and seperates.

Thank you
Mark
